Looking out the window this morning it is easy to be distracted by the amount of snow that arrived yesterday. And, as these thing go when one receives such February snows, settle into that Winter weary feeling that has been creeping in around the edges for the last while.
Times like this there is refuge to be found in the woods. In our case, the sugar bush.
There is a special silence to be found here. And an undeniable sense of wonder. Spending time with trees serves to remind me that the wheel is turning. That the cue of longer days has started the renewal process long before it is felt by the human body.
And that indeed it won't be long before this ramshackle little building will be full of sap and steam. A very tangible indication of Spring.
