are a whirlwind of activity. There are new garden beds being built and filled and although I may be pushing the envelope, planted in.
The future home of our laying hens was set into place last weekend. With a hearty thanks to our neighbour who is the greatest gift these former urban folks could ask for. Always positive about our ideas - even when our junior homesteader status shows.
And, my life's work - choking out the huge expanse of grass around our house and replacing it with perennial beds of shrubs, flowers and herbs. There appears to be no shortage of cardboard around town. And for those of you who have been following along, rocks are readily available in these parts. This bed will likely sit for a year before it gets intensively planted....to allow the grass to succumb to the forces of worms, soil bacteria, rain and lack of sun.
These are the days.
Happy weekending all.
